movement practice and play for inclusivity, empathy and creative thinking

You can book me in for a singular private workshop, for an intro or tune-up session, or a series for a more tailored experience and greater takeaway.

Each workshop series will be custom to your needs and strengths. I’ll even include a quick clarity consultation so it’s all designed with you in mind.

Join me around the shortest day of the year to ease your nervous system into winter. Give yourself the rest you need and deserve, and step back from the pressure to “do” with this relaxing rest-shop. Like a workshop, but with zero "work", this extended session is designed to revive your nervous system and ready you for the season ahead after a proper rest.

This is the fourth and final round of my seasonal rest-shops in 2025, taking place in line with the Winter Solstice. This is the perfect time of year to embrace the introspective yin energy as the nights start to get shorter once again. A quarterly opportunity to rest and recharge, these sessions create space for you to feel renewed and ready for the coming season.

This was my first “rest-shop” and it truly lived up to it’s billing. I found it to be a deeply beneficial relaxing class both physically and mentally. It was a small group and lovely to have some discussion points prior to the embarking on the poses. It helped crystalise why I had chosen to be there ; to equip myself better to deal with life’s day to day challenges. I find Sophia to be a nurturing and realistic teacher.

  • Step one is a preliminary chat about your overall goals and some background on the setting. That colours any additional research on my part, as well as the workshop style and structure.

This ensures sessions are curated precisely for you.

Workshops usually take place on-site at your space or venue, so that you or your group immediately apply the practice in a relevant setting. If this doesn’t suit, happy to arrange an alternative space upon request.

  • These workshops are grounded in physical theatre practice, so lots of games and exercises to help connect you with your body! These are combined with mindfulness techniques and informed by other movement practice as needed, all to promote embodiment.

But no barriers to entry here: the only thing you need to get going is a willingness to participate. It'll only be as active as you want, and is designed for all: whether or not you’ve ever set foot in a theatre. I want you to leave each session feeling present, confident, and more engaged with the world around you.

  • Physical theatre practice is an inherently relational form of expression and offers transferrable skills for daily life, including elevated mind-body connection and awareness around how your presence impacts with those around you. Particularly in this post-lockdown time, these skills are more crucial now than ever.

    sample areas of focus:

    • Stress management

    • Creative thinking

    • Emotional intelligence

    • Team cohesion and culture

    • Social anxiety

    • Self-confidence

    • Presence in interviews or public speaking

    • Easing habitual physical tension

    • Body language and non-verbal communication

artsmark in schools

As a registered Artsmark Partner, Kinaesthetic is thrilled to bring these workshops to schools and other educational settings.

These workshops for students are most effective for groups in Key Stage 4 and above, though they can be adapted for younger age groups as well.

I work with schools to equip young people with tools to express themselves from a place of grounded, embodied confidence. With increased time spent on screens, many young people struggle with in-person communication and feeling comfortable in their own bodies. That’s where these sessions come in.

Especially for students nearing graduation, the ability to represent and advocate for oneself, communicate clearly and build interpersonal emotional intelligence is crucial. I want to empower students to leave school feeling grounded, aware and confident in their bodies.

Kinaesthetic is proud to be working in partnership with schools and settings on their Artsmark Award journey. By supporting Artsmark settings, we’re helping put the arts at the heart of education, inspiring young people to create, experience and participate in high quality arts and culture.
