what i’m about

Hey! I’m Sophia

My work is all about connection and compassion: engaging you more fully with your physical self in a practical, creative, accessible way.

Well-versed in high-stress environments, I provide tools in my sessions to build self-awareness while emphasising the importance of fun and rest. I apply this work to my own professional and personal life and want to create a space where you can do the same.

how it all began

Kinaesthetic was founded by me: theatre practitioner and yoga facilitator Sophia Tupy, after completing my MA in Applied Theatre in London. I realised my personal experience with yoga was informing my applied physical theatre workshops quite a bit, and so took the leap to undertake my yoga teacher training a few years later.

Kinaesthetic came to life after I realised how often I use my yoga and theatre training day to day. It helps me understand myself and others, and what motivates our behaviour. When I can get out of my head and into the moment, I notice a powerful difference in how I tackle challenges, stress, anxiety, and communication.

I hope Kinaesthetic can make this practice accessible to others, and maybe create some empathy and compassion along the way.

What People Are Saying

movement practice for every body

why movement?

  • Three children dancing and playing outside under a white tent, with two sitting on chairs in the background. The girl on the left is wearing a blue jacket and light gray pants, and the boy on the right is wearing a white t-shirt and dark jeans.

    universality

Your body makes you completely unique, but is also what you have in common with every other human being.

Your body surpasses language and culture in its ability to communicate. This universal human communication helps us connect wherever we go.

I think that's pretty powerful, and want to help you get in better touch with your inherent ability to connect.

  • Four children standing in a white tent, all with open mouths as if shouting or singing.

    communication

With globalisation pushing us to lean on digital communication, maintaining meaningful interpersonal relationships is tougher than ever.

This affects our lives on both professional and personal fronts, and it's easy to feel disconnected on a human level despite being so virtually connected.

So, my response is to bring the focus back to basics: just you and your body.

  • Four people, three children and one woman, are laughing and playing inside a white tent. One girl with sunglasses and a pink shirt is sitting on a chair, another girl with a scooter is standing, a woman is crouching with a microphone, and another woman is standing with her hands raised, smiling broadly. The ground is brick, and there are some fallen leaves.

    awareness

In a group, greater sensitivity to the bodies around us helps us understand each other on a deeper level.

From first impressions to spatial awareness to group cohesion, awareness of the bodies around us lets us tap into the information that we subconsciously absorb every day.

By unlocking that wealth of knowledge, it's much easier to recognise our behaviour patterns and how they affect others (and vice versa).
