Devon Retreat, September 2026

• Wed. 9th - Sun. 13th September, 2026 •

With Amy & Sophia!

Tucked into the North Devon countryside overlooking the Bristol Channel sits Little Barton — a traditional farmhouse and cottage offering quiet, comfort and space for you to rest and reflect. This 4-night, 5-day retreat with Amy Mack, my wonderful co-host, and me is the ideal respite to ease the transition into Autumn.

With sea views, greenery all around, cosy fireplaces and a restored barn for our twice-daily yoga practice, you’ve got plenty of space to relax. You can join in solo, with a partner or with pals, and all levels of yoga experience are welcome.

How you spend your free time is up to you and what you need day to day, whether you’d prefer exploring on nature walks, taking a dip with wild swimming, treating yourself to a massage from a local therapist, or lounging in a chair outside in the garden with a book (or inside by a fire if it’s chilly…).

Sound good? Join us in September 2026!

Little Barton

Little Barton is a secluded North Devon hideaway, featuring a traditional farmhouse, separate cottage and barn. Surrounded by greenery and views of the sea and Bristol Channel, the property mixes a light and airy feel with cosy warmth. There’s a sweet little garden and meadow to enjoy if the sun’s shining, and there’s essentially no light pollution at night — perfect for stargazing.

The beach is a 20-minute walk away, with plenty of trails along the coast (maybe go for a dip in the sea?) or inland for wandering (maybe through the woods or to the pub?). For those who’d prefer to stay close by and enjoy the house, the multiple outbuildings offer plentiful space, inside or out in the garden, to find quiet when needed. The living spaces are filled with sofas, stocked bookshelves and board games for indoor fun and lounging.

Meals around the communal table in the farmhouse will bring opportunities to connect with the group, with three scrumptious meals prepared each day with love by our private local chef.

Feel free to contact either of us if you have any specific requests or questions — keep scrolling for room costs!

The Yoga

Our yoga studio is the spacious barn, a refurbished building with original trusses, maple sprung floors and a large wood burner for chilly mornings. Morning classes will be more flowing and energising, but paced to cultivate awareness rather than sweat. The evening classes will be more restful and meditative (think yin/nidra/restorative yoga).

All classes will include asana (posture/movement), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation, with some yoga philosophy conversation woven in. But no need to know “yoga terms” or be experienced to practice! We always prioritise a low-pressure environment.

We also take requests! We want to design this experience with you in mind, so let us know if you have particular class styles you’re interested in. The class lengths tend to be longer than a typical studio class, to take our time and cover the deeper aspects of yoga postures, alignment, or philosophy.

Whether you're new to yoga or more experienced, we structure classes that everyone in the group can enjoy. It’s a practice for all: no stress around looking or being a certain way. Do you!

the teachers – come retreat with us!

Sophia Tupy

I’m a yoga and creative movement facilitator from California, who enjoys exploring accessible and diverse movement, rest, and how our nervous systems change how we move. I’m invested in pursuing trauma-aware practice to create a space that feels welcoming rather than pressurised. Retreats, for me, offer a nourishing space for more connection with oneself, with community and with joy.

Amy Mack

Amy believes yoga is for everyone and that it should feel fun, playful and grounded in breath. With a gentle and encouraging approach, she guides students to listen to and respect their bodies, tuning in to what feels good and letting go of any thoughts of how their practice ‘should’ look. Amy’s sessions create space for curiosity, lightness and presence, offering a chance to connect more deeply with yourself while enjoying the simple joy of moving and breathing.

While the two of us have different backgrounds and styles of teaching, we have a lot in common!

  • Teaching classes that invite you to show up exactly as you are, without expectation or pressure

  • Love of dogs (animals in general, let’s be honest)

  • Mutual discomfort with ‘yoga’ classes that are really just a competition/workout and/or spiritual bypassing

  • Being happiest out in nature: forest, beach, mountains, you name it

  • Nerding out about embodiment, trauma-sensitive practice and how the practice impacts our nervous systems

  • Background in acting and theatre — no drama on the mat though 😉

Getting There

The nearest train station is Barnstaple, about 40-50 minutes by car from Little Barton. If getting the train in, we recommend arriving in Barnstaple between 2:30pm and 3:30pm so everyone can share a transfer/carpool. Alternatively, if you drive (especially if you’re interested in venturing off-property more during your downtime) Little Barton is about 4 and a half hours by car from London, depending on traffic. If enough of the group are interested in journeying over together from Barnstaple, we’re happy to connect you for a group transfer to make transport from/to the station most cost-efficient. For the return journey, I recommend any train from 12:30 pm or later so you can join the final class and eat breakfast before departure. It will also make a group transfer back to Barnstaple much more likely. If you prefer a later train, you can spend the afternoon exploring Barnstaple before heading back to the station.

We’re happy to discuss travel options with you! Let us know if there are any questions about getting to/from the retreat.
